  • Step 1. On the Workday homepage, type Create Requisition in the search bar and select the Create Requisition task from the search results.
  • Step 2. On the Create Requisition screen, enter the required fields if not auto-populated and click OK:
    • Update Requester name if entering a request for another employee. '
    • Update Company, if not auto-populated, if entering a request for another institution.
    • Select the appropriate Requisition Type. Requisition Type is required to complete requisition.
    • Validate the Deliver-To and Ship-To addresses are correct. Select different values, if needed.
    • Enter a worktag for Program, Grant, or Project. The assigned related worktags will default on to the requisition. Update the Additional Worktags, if needed.
  • Step 3. To create a request for a good or service that is not in the catalog, click the Request Non-Catalog Items hyperlink.
  • Step 4. On the Request Non-Catalog Items screen, under Non-Catalog Request Type, select the applicable request type of Goods or Service. Note that Request Goods has been selected for this example. In the Goods Request Details section, complete the following required fields:
    • Item Description
    • Spend Category
    • Supplier • Quantity
    • Unit Cost
    • Unit of Measure
  • Click Add to Cart. Select additional goods or services within the catalog until complete.
  • Step 5. If done shopping, click the Cart icon. Note that within the My Cart pop-up window, you can verify your items and total amount. Review and click Checkout.
  • Step 6. The Checkout screen displays with fields auto-populated. Review and confirm the information.
    • Confirm Request Date
    • Enter Internal Memo to the buyer, if needed
    • Verify information in the Item line(s), editing as needed
    • Add attachments as applicable
  • Step 7. Click Submit.
  • Step 8. The submission screen appears with the overall details and process of the requisition. Click Next Step.
    Note: The Next Step process automatically directs the initiator to their inbox to answer question(s) on the required Complete Questionnaire form. If submitted on behalf of the requestor, they will receive an inbox task to complete the form.
  • Step 9. Complete the questionnaire. Click Submit. Note that once you click Submit, the request is routed for approval based on the process workflow. A commitment against the budget is not created until the requisition is approved.
