Password Reset

Overview

Many issues accessing campus services such as D2L BrightSpace, eServices, E-mail, and Micrsoft 365 can be remedied with a password reset using the Minnstate Password Reset Tool.

If you forgot your password, please use the StarID Password Reset tool.

 Details

  1. Access the password reset tool
  2. Select a method for which you can get a password reset code.
  3. Reset your password.

 More Information

New StarID passwords created on or after Oct. 1, 2026, must: 

  • Be 15-128 characters in length. 
  • Use at least 3 of 4 character types (upper, lower, number, special). 
  • Not contain the user's first or last name. 
  • Not reuse a previous password. 
  • Once a user's password meets the new requirements, routine password expiration will no longer apply.
