AwardSpring Scholarship Application: Current Student Login Issue

A currently enrolled RCTC student cannot log into the Current Student Scholarship portal with single-sign-on.

Environment

Issue

• A currently enrolled and active RCTC student cannot log in to the RCTC Current Student Scholarship portal using single sign-on. 
• This happens when the student previously applied as a "prospective" student when they were in high school and already have an account in the Prospective Student Scholarship portal under a different email.
• The student may report getting an error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
• The issue is NOT single sign-on even though they cannot log in. The issue is with the student's account in AwardSpring. Only Award Spring Support can fix the account.

Resolution

1. Check and verify that the student is in fact currently enrolled. (Options: Password Reset Admin Tool, Azure AD)
2. If yes, Email: support@awardspring.com with the details:
   • Portal: https://rctcfoundation.awardspring.com
   • Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
   • Student's First and Last name
   • Student ID/email in the format: StarID@go.minnstate.edu 
3. This allows AwardSpring support to associate the student with the Minnstate email, so that Microsoft Single Sign-On works for the student.
