Description

Following are options for providing faculty office-hour appointments and course schedules for our students.

Instructions

Office Hours -> use Microsoft Bookings:

Faculty can create a Bookings site for Office Appointments.

  1. Create a new Bookings site with "FirstName LastName". (This will create a site in Office 365 like FirstNameLastName@MinnState.edu/bookings/).
    For added uniqueness, you can preface your name with "RCTC - " such as "RCTC - FirstName LastName" 
    (This will create a site in Office 365 like RCTC-FirstNameLastName@MinnState.edu/bookings/)
  2. Add a service called “Office Hours Appointment” or something similar.
  3. Add your hours of availability.
  4. Publish the Bookings link as “Office Hours” in D2L for students to make appointments.

    PROS:
  • Availability is displayed.
  • Appointments can be made online.
  • Appointments are created and placed in faculty’s Outlook calendar.
  • Virtual appointments can also be conducted over Teams (or Zoom). (Great for Online and Asynchronous courses.)

Course Schedules -> use eServices Portal:

Faculty can also create a My Course Schedule link each semester from eServices using the advanced search.

  1. Go to eServices Course Search
  2. Select Semester.
  3. Select instructor last name under advanced search.
  4. Copy the web address from the browser and create a My Course Schedule link in D2L using the copied link.
